MaxCyte is seeking a dynamic and motivated Instrumentation Engineer / Specialist to work in its Technology Development, Engineering & Manufacturing group. Position Description:
We are seeking an Engineer / Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team working on the development, manufacturing and technical support of our Instrumentation Systems and Processing Assemblies for cell loading. The candidate will work independently within a project team environment and participate in assembly and testing of Instruments. He/She will be responsible for conduct of studies in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Manufacturing Batch Records and Design Control Procedures to assist with manufacture, testing and technical support of cell loading instrumentation and software. The candidate will be additionally responsible for Installation, Calibration, Operational and Performance Qualification of Instrumentation Systems and providing technical customer support at partner sites. Candidate will interact with external collaborators and will need to travel. He/She may further
participate in adding value to MaxCyte through contributing to development of business / manufacturing control processes and publications in technical / marketing journals.
Position Requirements:
Applicant should have a B.S. / M.S. in Mechanical, Instrumentation or BioMedical Engineering other related discipline with 0 to 5 years of work experience in design / development of instrumentation systems for medical devices and/or laboratory equipment. We will also consider candidates without a college degree if they have 10+ years of relevant work experience. The individual candidate will be a dynamic self- starter, well grounded in appropriate technical skills, and will possess excellent oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills. He/She will have training and expertise in the area of Manufacturing processes, Design Control and will have working knowledge of QSR / GMP / ISO requirements. The successful candidate will be a team oriented individual, able to multi-task. Modest travel (up to 20%) will be required.

Job Summary:
A Research Associate is responsible for research and development as part of team working on
cell loading technologies with applications that include gene and cell therapy and protein
production. Responsible for developing and following good laboratory practices, standard
operating procedures, and quality assurance. Performs moderate to complex laboratory
procedures and data analyses including statistical interpretation of results to ensure timely
completion of the company's scientific objectives. Works cooperatively and effectively either
independently or in a project team under general supervision. Has responsibility for general
maintenance and upkeep of R&D laboratory, including administrative laboratory related
activities.
Job Duties:
- Performs cell culture, transfection, transduction, molecular biology, protein analysis and vector viral production.
- Provides input on the design of experimental protocols.
- Works cooperatively and effectively with others both within and between departments.
- Prepares research summaries and provides input on interpretation of experimental results.
- Troubleshoots general technical problems.
- Maintains accurate and complete lab notebook.
- Uses scientific literature to keep aware of current technologies.
- Attends and presents results at departmental meetings and may present at company meetings. May attend professional meetings.
- May order lab supplies, keep inventory and provide maintenance on lab equipment.
- May perform Quality Control analyses including, but not limited to, conducting routine analysis and data compilation on reagents, test procedures and standard operating procedures to check for deviation and compliance.
- Complies with all applicable policies regarding health, safety and environmental policies.
Job Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S in biological sciences or a related field and at least 2-5 years or more of laboratory experience; or equivalent. B.S. in biological sciences or related field and at least 5-10 years or more of laboratory experience; or equivalent.
- Strong technical skills, including molecular biology, cloning, PCR, immunoassays, mammalian cell culture.
- Strong problem solving and organization skills.
- Strong PC skills
- Works well both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to formally present his/her own work to a small group; able to write clear and concise research reports.
- Organizes work effectively and uses time efficiently.

ITF Inline Transfection System, a validated platform for preparative transfection
using flow electroporation. The system enables rapid and efficient transfection of
any kind of cell or cell line, with any molecule (plasmids, proteins, protein
complexes, drugs, mRNA, siRNA), at any scale. This is a great opportunity for
the right person. We believe the market for this product is large, and have great
expectations of this launch.
Transient transfection using lipids or virus is increasingly replacing the creation of
stable cell lines using recombinant work and cloning. Our new system offers a

Your customers will work in pharmaceutical and life science research and
discovery. They are cell biologists, molecular biologists, etc. who transfect cells
on a preparative scale for cell-based assays.
