Barbara A. Wible, Ph.D.

Barbara A. Wible, Ph.D. received her Ph.D. in Biology from Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI) in 1983. She did postdoctoral work at the University of Florida (Gainesville) on neurofilament protein phosphorylation and Baylor College of Medicine on the molecular and cell biology of voltage-gated and inward rectifier potassium channels. Dr. Wible joined the faculty at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH) in the Department of Biochemistry in 1995. Her academic research program focused on the modulation of voltage-gated potassium channels by accessory proteins including Kvβ subunits and KChAP. She has published over 35 papers on ion channels in peer-reviewed journals. In 2004, Dr. Wible joined ChanTest Corporation, an ion channel/GPCR CRO in Cleveland OH, where she serves as Head, Cell and Molecular Biology. She currently leads programs to develop an ion channel/GPCR/transporter catalog and drug-induced trafficking assays for drug discovery and safety pharmacology screening.
